Howdy all!

This may be related, somewhat, to #50. I'm not sure.

I have been working on getting an application upgraded to Rails 5, and have been running into an issue that I brought up with the Rails Core team, and they redirected me elsewhere. Here's the background on the error:

Going through some of your commentary on #50, do you have any other thoughts?
