Description

The Amazon Braket Python SDK is an open source library that provides a framework that you can use to interact with quantum computing hardware devices through Amazon Braket.

This project is aimed to create Qiskit-Braket plugin to execute Qiskit programs against AWS Braket devices.

Deliverables

• Create a predictable and maintainable plugin to use Qiskit Terra with Braket
• Create some simple example along the lines of https://github.com/aws/amazon-braket-examples/tree/main/examples/pennylane to demonstrate how it works and what you can do
• Build a Qiskit container for Hybrid Jobs using BYOC (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/braket/latest/developerguide/braket-jobs-byoc.html)
• Create an example notebook or two along the lines of https://github.com/aws/amazon-braket-examples/tree/main/examples/hybrid_jobs

FWIW, someone started an aws braket provider for qiskit a while ago here: https://github.com/carstenblank/qiskit-aws-braket-provider I'm not sure what the current status on it is, it looks like the repo hasn't had any activity in a while.

Thanks @mtreinish ! We have an entire list of attempts to bring Qiskit to AWS compiled by us and Braket team. Some of them are pretty decent but still require some work. We will review them as a first thing during QAMP.

Recap:

Qiskit-Braket provider to execute Qiskit programs on AWS quantum computing hardware devices through Amazon Braket.

Since first checkpoint our focus was on:

• refining backends, jobs classes
• writing tutorials
• executing agains real devices
• experimenting on hybrid jobs
• testing on algorithms (VQE)
• documentation

Remaining works in our TODO list without specific order:

• increase test coverage
• first release
• ci/cd for release procedures
• writing up more tutorials and how-tos
