qBittorrent & operating system versions

macOS 11.6.5

What is the problem?

Constant crashes,
torrent percent number not displayed on top of blue progress bars for some incomplete torrents
trying to move a torrent to a different folder freezes ability to interact with anything

And this is all just after 30 minutes of use. It is completely broken. And it took six months for a version newer than 4.3.9 to be released?

This is the absolute worst piece of freeware I have ever used. Constant problems on MacOS for two years straight no with end in sight, in fact the problems are now getting worse! I'm done! I am now jumping ship from qBittorrent to another client! Any other client. Goodbye!

I hope you know, you are ranting about a freeware software, which is developed by people passionate about these kind of things....

All you did is demoralize them, which is not good... Please edit out the rant and leave in your computer details, bugs and steps to reproduce

I don't care. I am demoralised. It's 2022. It's not rocket science. Test your software before releasing it. It has been six months since 4.3.9. I honestly don't feel like you guys even care at this point. I recall when Big Sur was released, there were posts here saying developers don't even have Big Sur to test it on? Anyway, isn't pretty much all BitTorrent software freeware? Go have the mods edit my posts, I don't care. I'm done.

Seriously, it's 2022, so learn to give constructive feedback or STFU and GTFO. Good riddance.

I've given three glaring examples of major issues, but unfortunately specific recommendations and suggestions are no use here. My constructive feedback is the more general matter that you should test your software before releasing it to the public. If it's in a pathetic state, do not release it. This is basic stuff.

Constant crashes,

Where is your stacktrace?

torrent percent number not displayed on top of blue progress bars for some incomplete torrents

This is problem with Qt6 and nothing can be done on our side. It will be fixed probably in next Qt release 6.2.5.

trying to move a torrent to a different folder freezes ability to interact with anything

Don't have a mac to test this. And I guess none of the devs have one either.

If you do not follow the issue template requirements then issues are considered invalid.

This is basic stuff.

Oh really? Like it is basic stuff for a user to check the changelog before updating? And noticing a listed known issue there before coming here to bitch about it?

If it's in a pathetic state, do not release it.

There are quite a few people in #14379 who have used unofficial builds of 4.4.x for the past few months and didn't notice a "pathetic" state.

So if you want to get your bugs resolved you better stop complaining and antagonizing people.
We need proper bug reports.
If you have crashes-> we want the stacktraces macOS presents you with.

About the freezing when moving torrents: Does the computer unfreeze when the move finishes d? Is it a complete freeze or just the system responding sluggishly/slowly? Where do you move the files to? To the same SSD/HDD or to another one? Is it a networked share?

Yes, because the test scenarios may not include the problematic scenario, where the issue occured.
That is why is it required to be constructive in the issues.

While I don't encounter with freezing, I encounter with crashing related to Finder/file management, which may can cause the mentioned freezing too.
The crash is easily triggerable with just opening the torrent download location from qBittorrent in Finder and this scenario always leads to a crash.
I checked the official and my own build (which is the same, just using the Qt patch) and both of them are affected.
I filed a bugreport for it in #16727.

15k+ stars on github and how many millions of qbittorrent downloads without issue. I would just lock and close this issue considering the attitude and complete lack of understanding on how software works by the original author. If he/she calms down and wants to re-post with details, they can file another issue later on.

BTW this is my first time in this repo - for me qBittorrent has always been great software for years without a single issue.

Lol no, I explained it clearly that the software itself stops responding to any interaction but doesn’t freeze when you try to move a torrent. The dialogue box to select the destination folder didn’t even open. Download/upload activity continues to occur I just can’t do anything with the software! Can’t even select/highlight a different torrent. It’s not my fucking operating system or my hardware, it’s your shitty software being released in a totally borked state.

You’re living in another reality or you don’t have a Mac with Big Sur. An OS released in November 2020 I might add.

Problematic scenarios? This is the most basic general use scenarios. I don’t even believe this was tested much by anyone at this point.

Why are you still lingering here? That was a rhetorical question.

It's clear that your entitlement attitude won't help solve this issue and/or help improve this software. So take my advice (STFU and GTFO) or at least take your own "I'm done! I am now jumping ship from qBittorrent to another client! Any other client. Goodbye!".

Good riddance.

Closing and locking because the original poster doesn't follow a decent decorum here.
His problems might be true but we can't work like this.
I suspect that the freezing issues are due to Qt6 since he didn't encounter those with 4.3.9 which uses Qt5.
