mdock throws sometimes a NPE when adding a view to a tab

This may occur also in other conditions (not only empty tab), but here is how to reproduce:

• Create an emtpy tab
• Try to add a view to it (e.g., Snap SPARQL query) by clicking in the middle of the empty tab (before the blue rectangle shows up). Not sure when the blue rectangle shows up (might be a focus issue?)
• A NPE is thrown, see below
