This is a good idea, it has been proposed multiple times. the current pp system is even based on that idea (going back to osu-tp it showed the 2 main skill the current system is made of) Ignoring those problems ,I think it would be a good thing, even though with the current system/structure I don't think we could split it further than aim tap read which would be a bit sad since it's kinda the point of that kind of system. |

Current system is already structured like that, but without any way for players to see their individual skill rankings (that was discussed before and iirc decided that it's too messy to show) |

Afaik (correct me if I'm wrong)Currently the system only takes into account accuracy, tapping and aim and flashlight I think but there's more to take account (even in osu skills) |

The main idea for this proposal is to integrate certain osu!Skills systems into official PP calculations. Basically, calculate the PP of each recognisable skill individually, then put them all on their own leader boards to generate individual global rankings. After this, take the global PP/rank of each skill and add it all up, then find the mean average. This will give a secondary ranking very different to the primary ranking (I've done this a few times before and that has been true every time).
Now comes phase 2 of the process, actually having this new ranking system weigh into the primary system. Simply, take the two numbers, add them together and-that's right-average them (Again, mean average). This means both numbers will have a 50% weight on the actual rank of a player. There will be their regular PP rank (the current system) and their individual skill rank (the new system), which will theoretically be more accurate than just the PP rank alone since this technically splits that one data point into ~8.
For this proposal, I believe there aren't any abstract calculations or otherwise that need to be specifically made to the way PP itself works. All it does is build off of things that are not only already present in the game, but also things that are actively being worked on right now. What you're doing is taking what each skill contributed to the overall PP value at the end of a map and adding those contributions to their own leader boards while still adding the overall PP itself (with a 50% weight) to the main value on the profile. In other words, a 300PP score will still be worth 300PP. The only difference will be that half of its affect on a player's profile is determined by how the PP was gotten and how many times said player has gotten it in that way.
Now onto why I'm making this proposal in the first place:
I feel that players will be more incentivised to play a wider variety of maps under this system, due to the fact that purely focusing on just one or two skills will run into diminishing returns much sooner and add a soft limit to easily exploitable skills. This also means that players would be forced to become much more skilled in one aspect if they want to continue down that path. So, even if they don't end up becoming rounded, they'll at least have to work harder for the reward.
But beyond incentivising players to interact with different maps, mappers will also be more incentivised to make different maps and stop bashing pure aim and speed into the ground. Since players will likely quit grinding the same thing over and over due to a large spike in the effort it takes to hard-focus one skill, maps focused on those singular skills will have less and less prominence.
Aim will eventually plateau, so then tapping-likely streams. Those will plateau, so then finger control. Then reading, then speed. So on and so forth (this list is not in order of how much PP each skill gives). Rounded players would crop up more often and mappers would hit a point where pumping out the same map again and again just doesn’t get as much attention.
Of course, under this new system it is still possible to rank up with just one skill due to the system only controlling 50% of the weight of overall PP. I believe this should not be taken away from players, since there are of course those who simply grind one skill because they enjoy it so much. It would be wrong to take away their right to reaching the upper echelon just because they prefer one skill over others.
