This table shows the opinion of Japanese people about inflation and deflation in Japan:
The table comes from this paper. It summarizes data collected by the Bank of Japan in a long-running survey. it shows clearly that people do like deflation and dislike inflation. Our model of fair pricing does explain people's views about inflation and deflation—but we have not been able to derive an efficient rate of inflation from it.
