Updating a repository variable using api is throwing 404 error

Hey I am using github api to update the repository variable of my repository. But when I use http(s)://HOSTNAME/api/v3/repos/OWNER/REPO/actions/variables/NAME it is throwing 404 error. While I am able to create , list only updating the variable is throwing this error.
