Environment Details

  • Helidon Version: 2.0
  • Helidon SE AND Helidon MP

Problem Description

From Issue 1515: we need to provide a general introduction to Helidon. Should include the following:

  • Helidon purpose in general
  • Helidon goals
  • More about 2 flavors of Helidon [LJ - frameworks of Helidon include SE and MicroProfile (MP)]
  • Differences between SE and MP [brief description of differences. Doc is now separated into MP and SE so details should be provided within the different sections]
    Notes:
Helidon is an open source Java microservices framework from Oracle.
Features a framework designed from the ground up for building microservices.
Provides a lightweight set of libraries that doesn't require an application server and could be used in Java SE applications.
Helidon 2.0 implements MicroProfile [version supported at release]
Oracle Cloud integrations [what are they?]
Two frameworks to chose from: Microframeworks (Helidon SE) and MicroProfile
