Deprecation Notice: dashboards-visualizations

We would like to inform the community that the dashboards-visualizations will be deprecated starting with OpenSearch version 2.19 and discontinued from the version 3.0. The dashboards-visualizations repo contains the gantt chart visualization. It was extracted from the gantt chart of trace analytics, and user can use it to display a gantt chart in their dashboards for observability related use cases.

But this plugin did not get much usage or development due to the limited use cases. Most logging agents do not output duration related information that is needed for a gantt chart. For tracing data, it is not very useful to display a gantt chart of a static trace without the interactivity to drill down.

What this means

• dashboards-visualizations will no longer receive new development from OpenSearch Dashboards version 2.19 onward.
• dashboards-visualizations will be removed in OpenSearch Dashboards version 3.0.
• Users are encouraged to transition to use the Vega visualization for flexibility, and use trace-analytics for tracing related usecases.
