PDAL can write Geoparquet: https://pdal.io/en/2.6.0/stages/writers.arrow.html#writers-arrow . Maybe @hobu has comments on how efficient it is |

Geoparquet "defines a specification for how to store geospatial vector data (point, lines, polygons)".
There is no mention of point cloud data and I have not seen any implementations. I was wondering if it would be suitable to store point cloud data as well, or which are the arguments against this? Lidar data for example contains X,Y,Z coordinates and additional data per point such as classification, intensity etc. Working with this data often means many filtering steps, and in my understanding the columnar format of parquet could be beneficial.
