Rationale

The edx-documentation repository houses a lot of different documentation projects that are:

• out of date
• sometimes very specific to edx.org
• contains complex logic to be able to publish multiple versions of the docs

As docs.openedx.org becomes the go-to place for Open edX documentation, and as content is migrated from here to there and updated, having the old docs published to the old edx.readthedocs.io domain leads to confusion and inaccurate information.

Removal

All content that is still useful to the Open edX community will be reviewed, updated and moved to served under the docs.openedx.org domain and where possible, redirects will be setup to point to the relevant sections of that documentation site.

Replacement

The new source for Open edX docs will be https://docs.openedx.org
