Per #686 (comment), the Go validation API is extremely broken. We should clarify that the version pushed out as 1.0 only guarantees the backwards compatibility of the specification and not the Go API.

We can bring the Go API into semantic versioning, but the quality is so low that I don't think that should be done at this point.
