npm install fails

How can this bug be reproduced?

1. Step one - follow quickstart guide
2. Step two - run npm install - did not finish

What did you expect to happen?
would install components
What happened instead?

:~/websites/public_html/wp-content/themes/FoundationPress$ npm install

Looks like it has something to do with Digital Ocean's service. I installed it on a local server and it worked with a few warnings, mostly version warnings.

I still can't figure out what's wrong though. I have almost the same setup on the local server as I have on DO but anytime I try to do:

npm install

I get the error above. I also tried installing the components one at a time, but I can't even get past bower.

I'm closing this now as it appears it's not an issue with the theme.

Just a little addendum, after I closed the issue I found the solution here:
NPM gets killed no matter what
Basically it was an issue with the swap file
