Public participation

We stream our conference call straight to YouTube so anyone can listen to it live, it should start playing at https://www.youtube.com/c/nodejs+foundation/live when we turn it on. There's usually a short cat-herding time at the start of the meeting and then occasionally we have some quick private business to attend to before we can start recording & streaming. So be patient and it should show up.

Many of us will be on IRC in #node-dev on Freenode if you'd like to interact, we have a Q/A session scheduled at the end of the meeting if you'd like us to discuss anything in particular. @nodejs/collaborators in particular if there's anything you need from the TSC that's not worth putting on as a separate agenda item, this is a good place for that.

No update on build resources since last week.

Startup performance: opened https://bugs.chromium.org/p/v8/issues/detail?id=10704, rebased nodejs/node#32984 and made it work around that v8 issue while trying to fix it in the upstream. Would appreciate more reviews for that PR to land..

Updates on V8 currency:

• V8 8.4 landed on master. Release notes: https://v8.dev/blog/v8-release-84
• Backport PR to v14.x is open: [v14.x] deps: update V8 to 8.4 node#34356
• WIP update to V8 8.5: deps: update V8 to 8.5 node#34337. The new cppgc is causing some issues with cross-compilation and Windows.

Would love to talk a little bit about npm v7 and the release strategy behind it if we have time. Haven't opened any issues about it yet (will soon)

I won't be able to make the meeting today but just wanted to say that I've started to review nodejs/node#32984 and will continue tomorrow. I also hope to have time to take a closer look at @addaleax suggestion but I only have tomorrow before a month of PTO.
