Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

No, I'm not facing a problem, but I'm missing a feature that would significantly improve the usability of the Nextcloud Photos app. I think this also would get hobby professionals looking to nextcloud.

Describe the solution you'd like

My Feature-Request in one sentence: "Make Nextcloud-Photos more PhotoPrism-like"
I would like Nextcloud Photos to incorporate more advanced photo management features similar to Adobe Lightroom Classic. Specifically:

  • Display EXIF Metadata: When viewing an image, Nextcloud Photos should show EXIF details such as camera model, lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal length, date taken, and geolocation.
  • Filtering by EXIF Data: Users should be able to filter and sort photos based on EXIF attributes. This would allow finding photos taken with specific cameras, lenses, or settings.

Describe alternatives you've considered

  • Using the Memories App: While Memories improves browsing performance and retains EXIF date information, it does not currently support filtering by EXIF metadata.
  • Manually Tagging Photos: A workaround is to manually tag images based on their properties, but this is time-consuming and inefficient for large photo libraries.
  • External Tools (e.g., Lightroom, Darktable): Exporting photos to another tool for metadata-based filtering is possible, but it defeats the purpose of having a self-hosted solution like Nextcloud Photos.

Additional context

Integrating EXIF metadata display and filtering would enhance Nextcloud Photos for photographers and power users. Many professional and amateur photographers rely on metadata to organize and find their images efficiently. Adding this feature would bring Nextcloud Photos closer to being a fully-fledged photo management solution while maintaining privacy and self-hosting benefits.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks for your work on Nextcloud Photos! 🚀
