add .env file type support

Expected/Wanted Behavior

Using https://github.com/theskumar/python-dotenv it should be rather easy to add supprot for .env as another possible file format & as .env files are used in a lot of places it might be a good option to provide the enduser.

Actual Behavior

.env files are unsupported
