these're managed using the wonderful (https://github.com/anishathalye/dotbot)[dotbot] with a small wrapper script to support multiple dotbot profiles.
to install just the stuff in default.conf.yaml, just run ./install
to install other profiles (e.g. linux.conf.yaml and personal.conf.yaml),
run ./install linux personal
