For me all is working like described until now.

Inactive categories, payees is a good idea
But I think if inactive categories, payees are still visible in the list when we have to choose one in the list, the inactive function is not as interesting
If we have 200 categories and we inactive 50,100, it would be interesting to have the possibility of hide them and get a shorter list. Same for the payees. (and maybe later for the tags)

We could have a menu like this in the settings :

What about to have simple filter in category payee and tag to hide/show inactive item?
More simple and immediate. Hide by default, make sense because normally we would work on active category.. and only if needed show hidden
