Being against the popular opinion, I'm one of those who doesn't want that green icon on my system tray. Is there an option to disable it or are there any plans to implement this function on the app?
I dwngraded a couple versions in order to have the behavior I want on my system.

I don't know how to implement this option. I cannot change the actual client source code, so it's impossible to add anything to the settings page.

I'll keep this issue open as a discussion for possible solutions :)
