The Source Control REPOSITORIES section is very important to have access to local/remote branches, pull, push, fetch, commits and all the basic features used in git.
However the repositories section is not visible by default.
To make it visible you have to click the 3 dots button and select Repositories, as below:
My request is to have this enabled by default, as many people don't even know it exists and feel like VS Code is quite limited in terms of git features.
