as an FYI this is getting postponed until the custom config work is done as these are deeply interconnected.

planning on a notification message to surface the error in the meantime (before the config stuff)

doing this will fix #21688

Verification Steps:

  1. open or create a workspace with python files
  2. go to the testing tab to configure tests
  3. go through configure flow, select unittest then whichever other settings
  4. wait till discovery happens, check that you see an error message like- "testing framework incompatible"
  5. reload the window, verify you don't see this error message anymore

No error message, but no tests discovered either.
Not sure thats expected.

@DonJayamanne did you go through the configuration flow and still didn't see it? So the "configure python tests" button?
