Ok. I will use Feedback Hub |
@Aaron-Junker wasn't there a concept to build a new, simple screen recorder module? Maybe that tag applies too. |
@Jay-o-Way You're right. Idea 2 is a duplicate of #981 |
@Jay-o-Way But this isn't the proposed feature. |

Description of the new feature / enhancement
There are two things I want to propose:
1. Virtual Desktop tooltip
When navigating from a virtual desktop named "Develop" to a virtual desktop named "Test", it would be useful to show a very small tooltip-like popup at the top of the screen containing the name of the current desktop ( i.e. Test). Would this be possible by a new PowerToy ?
Something like this:
2. Keyboard Shortcut popup
When recording tutorials it would be useful to show key combinations like "Ctrl + Shift + C" to help people to follow along. Would this be possible by a new Powertoy ?
Something similar to this:
Or, even better a new simple screen recorder Powertoy? It would be useful when you want to do a quick record, etc. Currently, there is the windows 10 game bar, but it cannot record the desktop or windows explorer and I find it a bit buggy in my computer. There is also an another inbuilt screen recording software. To access it, go to PowerPoint -> Blank Presentation -> Insert -> Screen recording.
This is a very simple and effective tool to record small or large videos, but when recording, the bar at the top (the toolbar like thing when recording, which contains the Play/Pause/Stop buttons) is also included in the recording. So, it would be better if it was fixed in a PowerToy.
Scenario when this would be used?
The first one would be useful when you are working with many virtual desktops.
The second one would be useful when you are recording some tutorials or short videos.
