We are trying to use the "land use and land cover" (LULC) dataset to return the percentage of crop land around a given point. To do this, we are attempting to adapt the mosaiks.ipynb example notebook to the new dataset while returning the percentage of cropland. These values will be used to weight our features created from mosaiks when we summarize them to the administrative boundary level (the resolution of our crop yield data). It would be nice to keep a similar workflow as the mosaiks notebook, but we are open to different or better ways to accomplish the same thing.
Our problem is that we are getting empty values returned around UTM zone delineations and are unsure how to solve this. This means that our plots return NA values in a buffer around every 6 degrees of longitude, and for some reason, every 8 degrees of latitude. I am assuming the issue comes from reprojecting the point from EPSG:4326 into the imagery's CRS. We can manually specify a CRS and that seems to take care of our longitude problem, but not the latitude. Here is a notebook that demonstrates the problem.
Is the imagery actually stored with latitude band information?
Any ideas why this might be happening or how to solve it?
Thanks!
