Hi

apologies for the noob question... I've set up my WiCAN which seems to be working fine and I can see data both with Car Scanner but also published correctly on my MQTT broker. I was planning to use to monitor my fuel tank consumption (it's a RV so apart the engine I have a generator and the heating system serviced by the same tank) while the vehicle is parked. However data is updated only with the vehicle turned on. Is this correct? any other way to get the level updated when the engine and dash is off? battery drain is not an issue as I have a dedicated charger for it.

Thanks for your help

@stepir I wouldn't call this is a noob question :)

Yes that's correct, it's only updated when the vehicle is ON, assuming that you don't have sleep mode on WiCAN enabled?

Most vehicles put the ECU to sleep when the engine OFF to save power, few vehicle don't and some can be woken up by CAN message.

Maybe there's a hack were you can stop it from sleeping.. please share if you find a way.
