When/if we get IMMS ported to other systems and used by people across devices,
we'll probably need some system for syncing song ratings etc. between
databases. For example, if we can port IMMS to RockBox people may need to sync
ratings between their Rockbox device (that they generate while on the go) and
their home computer. Likewise if people have a home and work computer, they may
want to sync ratings between them. We may need different ways of doing this
based on the platforms involved - e.g. file transfer/database update and merge;
hosted online syncing service; etc.
This is less critical right now as I'm not sure how many people use IMMS across
multiple devices, but something to think about for the future.
