sideband on raspberry pi

did a fresh load on a raspberry pi. latest Pi os, used the tutorial on this site to install sideband. when I run sideband from the accessory's menu on the desktop all I get is a black box with the header of sideband.

did a fresh install on a pi 4 and I now can see sideband. Trying to talk to a heltec running rnode. Sideband sends me to the config file, there is nothing in the config on how to enable a usb connection. I'm lost on how to make this work. Is there a tutorial out there somewhere.

On desktop operating systems, the Reticulum interface configuration is handled by the local config file. It will usually be located at ~/.reticulum/config.

By default, only an AutoInterface is enabled, which will allow local WiFi and Ethernet communication. To add an interface for your heltec RNode, simply add an interface for it. There's full details about this in the manual.

You can also generate a comprehensive example configuration file with examples for all interface types by running rnsd --exampleconfig.

Once you've added an interface entry for your RNode, Sideband should use it as soon as you start the program. You can always check interface status for all interfaces configured on the system by running rnstatus.

Fresh load of sideband on a pi. Rnode is connected. i cut and paste the rnode section form the example config into the interface section of the config file. I changed the rnode to enable and changed the frequency to 907xxxxxx for use in the usa band. I start sideband and it instantly closes. change the enable interface back to NO and same behavior, sideband starts then closes. I cut the ronde section from the config and sideband starts and runs fine. seems there is something within the example config rnode section that crashes sideband.
