buildozer android_new does not show the presplash #387

When using buildozer android_new, even when specifying a presplash, the app shows a black screen when loading.

If I refer to a nonexistent file, still says that the file doesn't exist so the problem is probably when p4a assings the presplash...

I would like to help fix this, where should I start looking?
