I can make my apk work fine and all, the thing is: I need to change a config file (which will go for different persons), but whithout root access I can't even see the org.testapp folder on the device. I don't know how I can make that folder go to android/data. I thought it could be the public dir property, and I tried setting it to False, but when I made that, I couldn't build the apk file.
You can't really force the app to install in another directory but there is a way to store that config file in another location. Basically android has multiple levels of scoped storage. If you where to just run the python open function this will access your app's folder inside android's system storage. This storage can be easily accessed by your app without any permissions but requires root permissions for users to access(which is your problem currently)
There are two options for you, but both of which have absolutely nothing to do with buildozer and have to be accessed from your python file. The first method is to use your app/data folder which can be publicly accessed. accessing apps storage
The second method is using the same example given the link above, but except requiring a lot of permissions and figuring out all the scopes you can just let the user choose the file location, which actually works much better across multiple android versions. I have implemented it and will update you if I post a gist about it. But the example in the above link is perfect for what you need
