Versions

  • Python: 3.7
  • OS: Ubuntu 18.04 (VirtualBox) / HostOS: Windows 10 - 1909
  • Buildozer: 0.11

Description

I want to package my App for usage on Android, but it fails with the given output (see below). From my understanding it looks like it is related to pip so I already updated pip3 to the newest version, but this didn't help yet!

Any help appreciated! :-)

#
#[app@demo]
#title = My Application (demo)
#
#[app:source.exclude_patterns@demo]
#images/hd/*
#
# Then, invoke the command line with the "demo" profile:
#
#buildozer --profile demo android debug

I think this is a dup of kivy/python-for-android#2178

Thanks for your quick answer!
Yes, it looks similar/related, but installing libssl-dev didn't solve the problem unfortunately. The same error persists.

Please share the full logs including your buildozer android clean command and the buildozer android debug command and log so we can help to debug

Okay, very strange behaviour - although I didn't change anything in the code compared to yesterday I was able to compile the APK now.
Only thing I did different now was to just do buildozer android debug (after buildozer android clean) instead of buildozer android debug deploy run and I restarted my Laptop/VM over night.
Anyway happy it works now and I can debug other problems which occur on phone compared to PC :)

Probably you missed the clean the first time, thanks for the update

Yes, I never used clean before, but it was also not mentioned in this buildozer documentation:
https://buildozer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/quickstart.html#init-and-build-for-android

Can you briefly explain when I have to use clean? Everytime before I compile the APK? Or just once for every 'new' project? Unfortunately I cannot find sth. in the docs - and thanks a lot for your support!

Answer is it depends, but we can (bias) resume it as, every time you change a requirement
