Is there a way to interact with bare git repos, say for a dotfiles repo?

Is there a way to use lazygit to interact with a --bare repo? I would like to interact with my /dotfiles repo given this common configuration

I'm not fully across bare repos and all the edge cases but you should be able to go lazygit --git-dir=$HOME/.myconf --work-tree=$HOME (substituting the right directories)

I use lazygit with yadm (which manages dotfiles in this way) and can confirm - I alias ly to lazygit -ucd ~/.local/share/yadm/lazygit -w ~ -g ~/.local/share/yadm/repo.git. The reason for ucd is that I've found that accidentally triggering "Add all files" makes lazygit hang, so I disable it in a custom configuration file. Otherwise it works great!

Additional tip: -ucd takes an array of configs, so you can have just the keybinding in the yadm-specific file

I put this together in my neovim config using which-key I'm sure there's a more elegant way but this works just fine:

I also had a hanging fish shell with yadm add <tab>. I fixed this with a ~/.gitignore file where I ignore all folders except the ones that contain my dotfiles.

!/.config/

This will exclude all directories except .config and .local. All files directly under home are not excluded.
Advantage is that this solves hanging in all git tools using the bare repository.
For me it's also more logical to only manage certain folders.
