Unpinning automatically

I believe this symptom may have to do with the fact the Linkding extension is not procured through the Chrome Store... I host a Linkding server and use this extension to access my bookmarks across Chrome sync'd across many computers. I have noticed that Chrome will "unpin" the Linkding extension about once a week. I can easily "pin" it again without much effort. But I am curious if you have experienced this symptom and (1) know a way around it (I have checked Chrome flags but do not see anything related to pins) or (2) you have confirmed it is a limitation of using unpacked extensions.
