@rsssxd @rickdtc please have a look at this comment on issue #45.
Maybe you have the same problem here.
First you must disable the VPN, then open squawker (which will create the temporary Twitter/X guest account).
Afterwards you can enable the VPN and continue to work with squawker.

This problem persists for me. I don't have VPN. Tried on tablet with Android 7 and phone with Android 11. I understand it is working for some people but hasn't worked for me for about 4 days. I wonder if there's something left over in the cache

I think a day or two before 3.4.2 came out. 3.4.1 was working for me but I did a number of things and I don't remember the sequence I did them in.

I uninstalled Squawker, then installed Quacker (or maybe at the same time) and pulled in a quacker .json file to look at my old follows. Then uninstalled Quacker and reinstalled Squawker and tried to import that same json file, which loaded but had problems. So I uninstalled both Squawker and Quaker. Reinstalled Squawker and then it would no longer retrieve my subs from Twitter/X. Since there was discussion about X not working for a few hours I waited a couple of days then installed 3.44.2 but that didn't work either.

I don't know if it's the export/import that causes you problems.
Can you try to do a search user (for instance, elonmusk)?
If the search works, can you try to subscribe to a user found in the search, to verify if you get tweets?

FYI I think that currently Quacker do not support the recent changes of Twitter/X, so it is normal that you don't see any tweets in Quacker.

I think you are right that the import from quacker did something. But I would like to do a completely clean install of squawker. I looked for any leftover files to delete after uninstalling but couldn't find any. Are there any left behind?

I just did a fresh install on a completely different phone, OnePlus 6T. But it's still going through my Wi-Fi router as the other phone and tablet. I get nothing trying to import on this device which is running Android 11

Oh I see you are trying to import from an existing Twitter/X account.
I never tested that since I don't have a Twitter/X account.

If you do not import from Twitter/X, but just do a search user, what is happening?

Ok so it's clear that a guest account cannot be created on this device.
If you have tried on different devices, just a reminder that there can only be one guest account created per location (IP address) per day. So if you try to execute Squawker from a fresh install on any device, you won't be able to do it on another device from the same location until the next day.

If you want you can wait 24 hours and then from one and only one device, do a fresh install of Squawker, open it and then only do a search user, NOT an import from Twitter/X.
See what's happening then.

Actually I already tried that changing IP. Instead of using my wifi router IP I switched to my mobile phone cell IP and got the same.
I will try the 24 hour thing and do a fresh install
