Running on Android

in0finite edited this page Oct 11, 2019 · 24 revisions

Requirements

  • GTA:SA installed on your PC

  • Android 4.1 or higher

  • CPU: Snapdragon 600 or better

  • 1 GB RAM

  • at least 1.5 GB storage space

  • minimum 800x480 resolution

Instructions

  • Download APK

  • Install APK

  • Copy GTA from PC to your phone - it takes around 5 GB, but if you don't have enough space, you can skip copying audio folder (which will save you 3.5 GB)

  • Start the game

Tips

  • If your frame rate drops when close to a vehicle, then you can increase camera distance: Options => Camera => Camera distance from ped & Camera distance from vehicle. Set them to 15.

  • In case of low FPS in Main scene, try to decrease camera far clip plane (Options => Camera) and max draw distance (Options => World). Set them to 150.

Notes

Currently, the game is very demanding on Android. In the middle of Las Venturas, it runs at 10 FPS on an average phone. Even when draw distance and far clip plane are reduced, the FPS isn't much better. The cause of this is unknown, but it's probably related to unsupported texture format, or shaders. More profiling needs to be done. In Demo scene, the game runs at 30 FPS.

On the other hand, even the cheapest tablets can run the game at 30 FPS in the middle of Las Venturas.

Another strange thing is a huge FPS drop when camera is close to a vehicle.
