The problem

I have a Daikin air conditioner unit using the BRP072C42 WiFi adapter. It is discovered by HA, but when I'm adding it by specifying the API key:

  • The add window shows a spinner for ~30 seconds
  • The window says "Unknown error occurred"
  • Daikin device appears in the integrations list as "Initializing"
  • On the home page, the device reports all the sensors correctly but the only control is "streamer", which isn't applicable to my units.
    • Turning on the "streamer" does nothing to the unit and the toggle reverts back to off.
  • There are "Update of sensor.daikinapXXXXX_inside_temperature is taking over 10 seconds" messages in the logs.
  • After a restart of Home Assistant, the newly added devices disappear.
