Is it wrong to assume EJS has been the decided shipping language for Hexo? It certainly appears that way since every Hexo theme utilizes it. Didn't Hexo originally ship with Swig as the default, and wouldn't Nunjucks be a more likely predecessor? What does that mean for the future of Nunjucks support in regards to Hexo? I see last year's pull request to replace Nunjucks with Swig, however it already seems decided upon. And when I look at the v4 roadmap, I don't see any mention of using Nunjucks as Hexo's default template language.
Maybe my question is arrogant since I don't know enough about Hexo's history, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
