Description

AWS have added functionality to Elasticache users allowing IAM authentication with a token that does not require setting up passwords.

The current resource only allows for the optional passwords or no_password_required arguments which do not allow for an authentication type to be set.

A new argument that allows for the selection of an authentication type with the 3 currently allowed options (password, no-password-required, iam) would allow for the use of this new functionality.

Affected Resource(s) and/or Data Source(s)

  • aws_elasticache_user

Potential Terraform Configuration

resource "aws_elasticache_user" "test" {
  user_id       = "testUserId"
  user_name     = "testUserName"
  access_string = "on ~app::* -@all +@read +@hash +@bitmap +@geo -setbit -bitfield -hset -hsetnx -hmset -hincrby -hincrbyfloat -hdel -bitop -geoadd -georadius -georadiusbymember"
  engine        = "REDIS"
  auth_type     = "iam"
}
