What happened to abandoned / disused railways? They're not being rendered on any zoom level. I've been pointing people to the location of abandoned railroads using OSM for years now. I hope this is just an oversight and not a deliberate removal.

Here's a perfect example: Dude thinks he's found an old railroad station not listed in ny.existingstations.com. Where were the railroads in relation to this building? Just go to OpenStreetMap -- they're all there. Only not so much anymore.

Intentional, see #542 (found by "abandoned" search on this project).

Is it about track merely no longer used by trains or is it about railways that were fully and completely removed? In the first case - it is a tagging problem and http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:railway%3Ddisused should be used.

Do you know http://www.openrailwaymap.org/ ? They are specialized in rendering railway tags and even differ between razed, abandoned and disused railway lines. They also show a lot of details for active railway lines like signals and maxspeed restrictions.

Interesting. I searched for railway and didn't find that issue.
Openrailwaymap.org is nice, but you can't refer to specific railways using https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/28368859 . I've dropped many of these URLs all over the Internet. "oh, you mean this railway? https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/28368859"?

I would recommend discussing it on #542 - this is a closed duplicate.

Note that links in form of https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/28368859 still work - as this way is highlighted.
