We recently implemented a set of CIS rules in my organization. There is a clause about "1.7 Ensure Software Update Deferment Is Less Than or Equal to 30 Days". We have currently limited user updates to the jamf profile, and when a minor update becomes available in 30 days, the user can update (for major updates, we have a 60-day delay). If he does not do this, then erase-install comes into effect, where I use the "--version=" parameter to hard-set the version and offer to update within a week. The disadvantages of this method are a lot of manual work. I personally control the postponement of updates.
