Code of Conduct

What article on docs.github.com is affected?

What part(s) of the article would you like to see updated?

In step 5, clarify and link to details about the syntax for tag protection rules.

Add the following text between the two sentences currently in step five:

Tag protection rules use `fnmatch` syntax. For information about syntax options, see the [fnmatch documentation](https://ruby-doc.org/core-2.5.1/File.html#method-c-fnmatch).

Additional information

In GitHub Docs reader feedback, we've received some questions about the syntax for tag protection rules. Comments this month included:

  • Link to where the pattern syntax is explained
  • What are the formats of protected tags?
  • What are the rules?
  • Please add syntax definition. Does '*' allow only numerics, or any character? Are there any other wildcards available?
