Unable to authorize

Hi there,
I'm unable to authorize the plugin to upload to my imgur account. This is the error message that Imgur gives me:

I've tried this both before and after adding my Imgur ClientId to the ClientId field in the plugin's data.json.

First thing I want to emphasise: you are not expected to edit data.json manually. As a user, you are not even expected to know it exists.

I just checked authentication works for me. Steps I did

• installed the plugin
• enabled the plugin
• opened it's settings
• chosen 'Authenticated Imgur upload' from dropdown list
• The modal window with instructions has appeared and browser had been opened in several seconds, where I entered my credentials
• After that the browser calls obsidian://... to pass access token to it. That's it. Authentication successful

What did you do differently? Where did you copy the error from? One more thing to check: make sure your Imgur credentials (password) are valid

I did exactly that, but I think it might just be that i haven't defined a handler for obsidian:// urls in my mime types. I'll try that.

Hi, I want to share a quick tip about the authorization problem. If you are using a browser extension ad-blocker like adblock Plus, it's possible that it may interfere with the authorization process.
I had an interesting problem and I got exactly same authorization error after working without any problems for a couple of days. I was able to solve the issue, after de-authorizing from the plug-in, whitelisting imgur in adblock Plus, then re-authorizing from the plug-in.

if the authorization is OK, the service simply fails sometimes. It requires a couple of tries for the upload to succeed.

We see the following message in our Obsidian note:

<!--Upload failed, remote server returned an error: The access token provided is invalid.-->

But if you try pasting again and again, you will succeed. I think the blame should go to imgur's api services returning an unrelated message.

Hi @alihalac. Thanks for sharing. Could you please post the exact sequence of steps to reproduce your authentication problem? I just installed AdBlock Plus to Chrome and tried to authenticate - no problem with authentication and subsequent authenticated uploads.

I would expect to get this message once in a month. That's totally fine. Just re-login to continue. Refreshing authentication token is not implemented (and will not be), so you will need to authenticate again once a month. I should have added this note to FAQ section of a README.

Hi, thank you for your response. Authentication being possible after whitelisting imgur web site in adblock plus may be a coincidence. I am not getting the authentication error anymore, and I am not able to reproduce the problem right now. Because before the error, I did nothing different from my regular routine in obsidian.

Besides, I am getting occassionally the following problem when pasting an image from clipboard. The following is an example to such case:

When I try to paste the same image a couple of times, it succeeds at the end.
