Large number of quarantines with no content

I've had a number of problems with my restore. I was able to fix my earlier problem where Gmvault started the restore over from the beginning after a bunch of quarantined chats, potentially causing thousands of duplicates, by simply removing the message folders from the db and then finishing the restore with only the chat folders present.

However, this has resulted in a very large number (2160 items, so half that number of actual chats) of quarantined chats. I've tried opening those chats (unzipped) in Apple Mail, and none of the ones I tested appear to have any content—which is really strange, because all of my chats in Gmail have content; I don't think you can generate empty chat messages. I was able to open the .meta files and see the chat subjects and other meta information, but no chat contents.

How can I view the quarantined chat messages?
