I think for the getting started tutorial it would make sense to have some metadata/files to pull into my own app (instead of having the APIs return empty lists).
The options I can think of are :
Tell them to download the app from google play / ios as a 'tester' and upload their own photos/videos
Provide directions to install the Photos app using react CLI
Provide a script that populates the DB with fixtures
