I would like to let everyone know how I think the future of the ftCommunity firmware will look like.
I joined the project when the firmware had PyQt4. Buildroot did not support that any more, so I looked into migrating to PyQt5 which brought many challenges but everything could be solved eventually. I thought afterwards, the buildroot upgrades would be trivial but found out that buildroot themseves have problems keeping PyQt5 working (I provided a set of patches but not everything is merged yet).
I think I can continue maintaining the current state for quite some time, but I don't think I can participate in providing significant new functionality.
During the past years, @ski7777 was the only one pushing for improvements. There are lots of tickets what should be done, but realistically, I think noone else will work on these things unless the firmware will be available on the TXT4. So if someone would like to work towards the future, most important would be a port to the TXT4.
The current issue list and roadmap does not reflect that. That's why I would propose to clear all feature requests from the issues list as well as the current roadmap.
The strategy should be: Keeping the firmware working, keep the libraries up-to-date and eventually working towards a unified firmware for TX, TXT and TXT4.
