Claiming this. The markup is pretty much ideal so it should be done shortly.

Time out: what are you guys going to do with my recipes? They are copyrighted material in their entirety. I didn't mind Punchfork's practice of listing the ingredients and linking over to the full recipe on my site, but I don't want you all to make my full recipes easily downloadable. I don't want the full recipes republished anywhere else. Let me know what your intentions are here, please.

Hey Kate! I'm not part of Fictive Kin (the folks who are organizing this) but I can comment a little:

The information we're gathering from your's and other great sites is similar to what Punchfork was using as well -- specifically, we're not grabbing the recipe itself, merely:

  • a name, description and link to your recipe
  • list of ingredients
  • estimated cook & prep time

Cool, thanks for the update. That should be fine, though if the recipes will be published elsewhere as you described, I'd like to be able to ok it first.

Hey Kate!

Really glad to hear from you. As Justin mentioned, we're just making a database of what we call recipe bookmarks, because we want Open Recipes to help people find great recipes. Like you, most publishers have great preparation instructions, their own personality, and lots of awesome photos, and that's where people should go.

If you want the full story, we wrote about our motivation and intentions on our blog.

It would be really great to have your input from time to time in order to make sure we're on the right track.

Also, fantastic markup on those recipes. I'm sure Justin appreciates that. :-)

Thanks for the clarification, Chris. This all sounds good to me. Feel free to email me for feedback on occasion.
