I would call this an enhancement more than an issue.
When using SmartCopy and I would like to copy a new person, I would prefer that if the person is female and only has one last name assigned it should populated into Birth Name instead of Last Name. That way, if they get married and take on a new Last Name the field is available.

I would make this a configurable option, if supported.
My experience is that SmartCopy sources are wildly inconsistent on which name they put in, with many having the married last name as the only last name specified.
