What would you like to do?

Would love it if the info panel were always visible, so that the moment I join a NEW room its already open, preferrably listing whos in the room, and their online status.

Why would you like to do it?

this makes it easier to see whos in the room and online

How would you like to achieve it?

maybe some default settings for my user (something like always show info panel, with dropdown of the category, I would choose people.) Would also really like it if i could pick the size, I normally shrink it down as far as it goes, that gives me a quick overview of whos there without it taking up much space.

Have you considered any alternatives?

Well pidgin gives me a user list, and its not horrible, but I really do like element better, just really miss my easy user list with displayed online status and X number of minutes idle, etc.

It work's like you've described by default, but it's broken in the current devel version - it keeps visibility per room.
It's not a bug actually, it's a not desired feature ... #19634
