See https://matrix.org/docs/spec/client_server/r0.5.0#m-room-pinned-events

  • Pinning messages from the message action menu
  • Listing pinned messages somewhere (maybe room details?)
  • Jumping to pinned message context by clicking in the list

A UI has to be created for it first then it can be implemented, will be a very good alternative for posting rules within a room too or a public "notepad" for other users

We from Intevation are working on this feature for a customer (https://fez-berlin.de/en/). You can find our progress in this branch on Heptapod. I hope that we can contribute it to the Element client.

Any reason this pull request wasn't accepted? This is kind of a must-have feature for my team. I'm willing to contribute especially if it's a UI task.
