We are pleased to invite five of your enthusiastic students to a workshop on Embedded Systems. We are organizing this event for the students with extraordinary interest in the field of engineering. It will be held in the conference hall of hotel Manaki from 10 to 11 March 2014. We aim to providing hands on experience with basic-electronics, micro-controllers, and cutting edge development in high-speed programmable chips. The students will also have an opportunity to learn functional implementation of these devices. We will focus on basics of embedded systems, simplicity in programming and electronics, how physical world stimuli can be converted to digital form, how the signals look like and how to interpret and use them. For instance, a planned exercise is to measure the speed of a moving object using ultrasonic waves and use it to trigger some other event.
The number of participants per institution is fixed due to the limited resources that we can bring from Germany. The target group comprise of the students from \textbf{grade 9 onwards including engineering candidates}. The students who do not fulfill this criteria has to show special motivation to qualify for the participation. We will provide the micro-controller kits (Texas instruments and ATMEL), breadboards and a common digital oscilloscope. There is a possibility for a participating institution to procure these devices for their extra-curricular activity inventory (see enclosed document). The participation cost per institute is Rs. 3500.
We hope to give students a chance to: raise their horizon of engineering thinking, achieve new level of confidence in their knowledge, learn by doing, and develop more practical understanding of science and engineering. Please refer to \textbf{enclosed documentation for detailed program, preparatory notes and registration link}.\\[5pt]
