Example: https://app.dependabot.com/accounts/checkstyle/projects/106037

Only limited amount of settings is allowed in web UI.
Most of users this dependabot are engineers, fancy UI is good, but if can provide just text editor for yaml content it would be awesome.

hosting .dependabot/config.yml in repo in strict (non-configurable) place is not good, as it creates extra folders in root directory of repo (distract users from main content of repo).

@romani thanks for the suggestion! We'll probably integrate a config file editor inside GitHub and deprecate the app once we've fully integrated Dependabot Preview with GitHub.

Any news on this feature?

@edumco we've just launched a beta of Dependabot integrated natively in GitHub: https://github.blog/2020-06-01-keep-all-your-packages-up-to-date-with-dependabot/

Most configuration has been moved to the config file and we'll keep going down that route, we're currently working on adding support for private registries.
