This seems related to #27 Only this one is about tracking people back to facilities, not publications or data or software. A particular category of people to track could be PhDs as a good share of researchers who apply for facilities time pursue their PhD degree. Funding bodies (who fund PhD studentships) typically conduct "career path surveys" for the PhDs they supported; knowing that a particular PhD was supported by a particular facility can add an additional dimension to such surveys.
As an infrastructure provider I want to be able to track people associated with my instruments, equipment and services so I can follow their careers.
